For owners in the UK and markets where the MGF was sold MGF fuel filter options is a non issue. After all, in the UK you can pop along to Halfords and get a correct fuel filter. In other countries, like USA and Canada, you may try to cross reference a fuel filter by part number. You may get one that is the right size. However, there are examples where the threads or depth of the threads for the fuel lines are not right.
Known Correct Options #
Bosch 0 450 905 911 (F5911). This is one of the parts that is supplied by Rimmer Bros if you order from them. Their part number is WJN101192SLP – OE and you can clearly see the part number in the product image on their website. On a visit to the UK I found this is also readily available from Halfords. The one pictured came from Halfords but can also be found on Amazon.com and Amazon.ca albeit rather expensively.
Another filter that is also sometimes supplied by Rimmer Bros is the AC Delco GF640. I don’t have one of those to share a picture. So far, I haven’t found a source for these in USA.

Measured OK But Not Personally Tested #
The Mann WK612/3 was on a cross reference list that NAMGBR’s Post Abingdon registrar Mark Jones’ has painstakingly put together over the years. To check out compatibility I purchased one in the UK from Halfords. Visually they are the same and specifically the depths of the threads for inlet and outlet are also the same as the Bosch.
I did get out a digital measure and found the depth of the thread area to be 16mm on both of these filters. The same on both the inlet and outlet.
Interestingly, as I was taking photos I can see that the Bosch box has cross reference part numbers. The 3 on the list are this Mann WK612/3, Mahle KL182 and Purflux EP185. So, high probability these are OK.

Problem Filters #
By some trial and error, it became apparent that some of the cross reference filters do not work. The common theme was that the depth of the threads was not deep enough. So, I purchased a Purolator F34713 which came up as compatible on a cross reference website. The overall length of the filter is identical. The problem is with the depth of the threads. The threads are only 11mm on this Purolator F34713. As a reminder the threads on the Bosch and Mann are 16mm.

Based on feedback from various MGF owners in North America, this thread problem exists with various filters. Specifically it’s known that these filters have this issue for MGF owners: Purolator F34713, Wix 33265, Wix WF8160, NAPA FIL3265.

I’ve built this website and spent time on the knowledge base to bring together a lot of information I have collected from around the internet. The intent is making it easy to find rather than having to know about and have skills with search engine query terms to get what you were looking for. Please make use of the knowledge base.
