For some British Leyland cars carburetion was provided by Zenith Stromberg carburetors. Various types and models are documented. As part of their dealer service and network, British Leyland produced “Dealer Aids” for service departments.
I have been able to obtain a number of original original dealer aids. During scanning I apply optical character recognition (OCR). This makes the PDF scans searchable.
This specific dealer aid is S1040 on Carburetion Zenith Stromberg which was applicable to MG, Triumph and Jaguar. A very detailed 40 page document that explains a variable choke (venturi) carburetor. This style of carburetor works very differently than American carburetors. It is this difference means that service departments and mechanics would unlikely be familiar with how the British carburetors work. Equally they may not be able to diagnose issues.
This dealers aid is extensive at 40 pages long. It covers various types of Zenith Stromberg, including the CD 175 with automatic choke. This carburetor is on the USA specification late model MGB’s from 1975-1980. This information may also be of use to Triumph and Jaguar owners.

I’ve built this website and spent time on the knowledge base to bring together a lot of information I have collected from around the internet. The intent is making it easy to find rather than having to know about and have skills with search engine query terms to get what you were looking for. Please make use of the knowledge base.
